Overview

This visa allows dependent children of work or student visa holders to stay and study at primary or secondary school in New Zealand. If the child wish to study at tertiary level, they will need to apply for another type of student visa instead. The stay period and visa validity granted will match the duration of the parents' student visitor visa.

The child is considered dependent if they:

Are 17 years old or younger, or
Are 18–19 years old with no children of their own
Be in good health and character, and
Rely on the parents for financial support.

If your children do not wish to study for a primary or secondary school, or if they wish to only study for up to 3 months, you may visit this page.
