The Portugal Student Visa (Higher Education) D-4 Visa is a national visa (Category D) intended for citizens of third countries (non-EU/EEA/Swiss) who have been accepted into or will be attending a full-time higher education program in Portugal (such as a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree) and intend to stay for more than one year.
This visa allows its holder to enter Portugal and subsequently apply for a residence permit after arrival.
To be eligible for this visa, you need to fulfill all of the following conditions:
- Sufficient funds to cover the stay in Portugal.
- Official Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from school, university, or institution in Portugal.
- No record of Portugal visa rejection in the past six months.

- Plain white-colored clothing is strictly not allowed;
- New photos, no older than six months;
- Minimum size 40 KB;
- Minimum pixel 354 x 472;
- Photo size 3.3 cm X 4.8;

- Clear frontal view of the face;
- Hat is not allowed to be worn
- No edit allowed
